The Art of Convening
Gathering is one of humanity’s oldest technologies for creating understanding and shared purpose.
At Coherence Lab, we convene circles, councils, and ceremonies that honor both ancient protocols and contemporary needs.
Whether in a canoe on the Pacific, under the canopy of a forest, or across continents through digital connection, these gatherings are spaces where trust deepens, insights emerge, and collective action takes root.
Here, scientists listen to elders. Elders learn from youth. And all participants contribute to preserving culture and wisdom traditions for generations to come.
A Decade of Bringing Unlikely Allies Into Coherence
For ten years, we've convened gatherings where breakthrough becomes possible.
Our work continues today through monthly New Moon ceremonies, the Ancestral Wisdom Collective, and immersive gatherings on Kaua'i, all held within Kaiāulu.
Highlights
13 Indigenous Wisdom Weavers from tribes around the world gathered on Kaua'i in 2017. When we reconvened in 2022, the Council of Indigenous Sages of Colombia called for synchronized global ceremonies—and we responded by creating our monthly New Moon gatherings connecting wisdom keepers across continents.
30+ international forest advocates, from Indigenous leaders to policy experts to business leaders, came together for four days of ceremony and deep dialogue, shifting the global conversation from tree planting to protecting Primary Forests as the top climate priority. Major tree-planting organizations incorporated conservation strategies into their mission as a result.
Through a series of convenings and strategy sessions with legal experts, land trust lawyers, and landowners, we co-created Hawaii's first Rights of Nature conservation easement—recognizing ecosystems' legal rights to exist and thrive.
US-Russia diplomatic leaders and nuclear experts gathered with Hawaiian elders before traveling to Russia, transforming how nations with tense relations engage. Audiences across Russia reported feeling "the Spirit of Aloha and renewed hope for peace."
Women wisdom keepers spanning business, activism, and Indigenous leadership created lasting platforms for Kaua'i's sustainability.
In 2025, we held our first public cultural immersion gathering, opening pathways for deeper embodied practice with Indigenous wisdom keepers on sacred land.
How We Convene Differently
We don't convene to impose answers. We convene to create the conditions where wisdom can emerge.
Our approach draws from:
Coherence as organizing principle — We attune to presence and rhythm before problem-solving.
Indigenous protocol as foundation — Ceremony isn’t an add-on; it’s the structure that makes authentic dialogue possible.
Embodied sensing — We listen beyond words to unspoken patterns, energy in the room, and what wants to emerge.
Emergence over agenda — We hold clear intention but allow what is most alive to guide what happens
The Results
Diplomatic deadlocks soften into presence
Scientists and mystics discover shared language
Long-standing conflicts resolve
Individual transformation becomes systems change
These aren't networking events or conferences. They're carefully held spaces where people remember how to be together in ways that make the previously impossible, possible.
